Week 6 Social - Morecambe SuperBowl, Wednesday 12th November
This week’s social is a trip to Morecambe (Yay! Seaside!) to the excellent Superbowl (http://www.super-bowl.co.uk). The cost is £2 per person per game. (NUS card required to take advantage of student discounts). This should be a good night out, and gives anyone who hasn’t yet had the chance an opportunity to see Morecambe’s wonderful sea front. Cars leave the uni campus at 6.30pm on Wednesday evening.

Christmas social - Penny Street Bridge restaurant
Our very own Mr Nick Pratt has secured us a 35 places at this very highly regarded establishment for our Christmas meal. (www.pennystreetbridge.co.uk) The cost is a very reasonable £14 + £5 booking. Our Christmas social last year excellent, so make sure you don’t miss out on this. Nick needs to have all bookings organised for this before the end of October, so please make sure you see him on at one of the Monday admin sessions before then to be included. £19 is a very good price, (discounted by 20% from the normal price) and includes a 3 course dinner and coffee and mince pies to round it off. Roll on the Yuletide season!!
There are a number of different events that the club takes part in each year which all offer opportunities to get involved both in and out of their trainers!
Forthcoming race events
Our very own races man Mr Ben Gibbins informs me we have two races coming up, the Lancaster half marathon on Sunday 9th November (http://www.noeaa-athletics.org.uk/Pages/Event.aspx?EventID=159) and the Wesham 10 km run on Saturday 29th November (http://www.weshamroadrunners.com/Wesham10k/23rdWesham10k_2008.htm).

Last years socials…..
These included:
- Attending races across the North of England. In 2007/08 we took part in the UCLAN mile at the University of Central Lancashire, the Great Manchester Run, and even organised our own - Alexandra’s Lap.
- Fancy dress socials such as campus bar crawls.
- Christmas Party at the Meeting House restaurant.
- Cinema night.

A very proud moment for the club this. The first charity event organised by the club in April 2008 was a roaring success and raised a modest £129 for MacMillan Cancer Support. Help us on to bigger and better success by getting involved in the 2008/09 year.
